How to Prepare for GATE 2022

Preparation for GATE 2022 can be aided by the following points

Start as soon as you can

Candidates who are wondering how to prepare for GATE need to take the first step as soon as possible. You can prepare for GATE 2022 early by checking the syllabus, planning your schedule, and taking things at your own pace. You can also benefit from beginning your preparation early by giving yourself a lot of time to study and just focus on revision during the last few months so that you'll be at your best during the examination. Thus, you should get started early and not put off things until tomorrow.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

It is very important that you are fully prepared for what is about to happen. You should become familiar with the basic syllabus and exam pattern of GATE 2022 before you begin your preparation. GATE 2022 syllabus provides you with information about the topics and units that need to be studied so that you can prepare according to the exam pattern. As a result, the entire preparation period can be coordinated.

Which topic is more important?

Understanding the topic weightage of GATE 2022 follows knowing the syllabus. The syllabus often has some topics with more weightage in the questions, and these may help you score higher if you devote more time to them. The weighting for the topics and syllabus can be found in previous GATE question papers.

Choosing the topic that has the most weight will give you the upper hand during the exam if you give it more time. It is, however, important not to neglect other topics.

Plan your studies

After that, it would be a good idea to plan your GATE study schedule. The various topics and units should be divided according to your preferences in a custom study schedule made according to your aptitude. Having a study schedule will allow you to monitor your progress and plan your study sessions accordingly. Keeping focused on the preparation will reduce the chances of you getting distracted.

Track your progress by setting weekly and daily goals while preparing your study schedule. Ensure that subjects are divided up in such a way that it is not monotonous, and that those topics you dislike receiving more attention are given more time. The schedule should also include revisions and mock tests. Ensure that your study schedule does not overwhelm you and fits your standards.

Reference Materials to Choose

You might find the exam syllabus for GATE 2022 similar to the one in your undergraduate textbooks as you prepare for GATE 2022. It is recommended, however, that students also read additional reference books in addition to the textbooks. Referring to additional books will enable you to acquire a wider scope of knowledge, which will prove beneficial during an exam. In addition to watching online lectures and reading GATE toppers' interviews, you can also find the best books for GATE 2022 and learn more about their source of study.

Identify your strengths

During your preparation, you should identify what will be your strongest points and focus on them. If you feel confident about a topic, study it well so you have a higher chance of scoring well on it. The GATE 2022 will consist of two compulsory sections - Engineering Mathematics and Aptitude Test. Study these two topics more carefully so that you can score more marks. To prepare for these two sections, you can check out newspapers and past papers of competitive exams. You can also consult books by Kenneth Rosen, BS Garewal, and Erwin Kreyszig related to Engineering Mathematics.

Clarify Confusion by Consulting

It is a good idea to talk to your tutor if you get stuck at any point in your studies during your preparation. Having a healthy discussion with your peers and teachers will help you. In addition to providing you with information about your friends, this will also motivate you to study. Having a friend or teacher explain a concept to you is always beneficial. It will also be possible to learn many new things by joining various online groups dedicated to GATE preparation.

The importance of revision

GATE preparation includes revising. The topics and chapters should be reviewed sufficiently so that everything remains fresh in your memory. You should schedule some time for revision as it will help you better understand the topics and will help you to progress.

By doing this, you'll be able to determine how much you have retained from the topics and chapters that you studied. Frequently revising is necessary.

Managing your time well

Because the test is only three hours long, candidates should be capable of managing their time effectively. A failure to manage the time well will result in a higher chance of not answering all questions by the end of the test. Learning time management is best achieved through solving the mock GATE 2022 test while keeping a strict schedule. By practicing inside the exam time limit, you'll be able to complete your exam efficiently. It is important to practice time management to ensure that this will not hinder your ability to score well on the exam.

Stay in good health both mentally and physically

While maintaining a healthy mental and physical state is just as important as focusing on your studies. No matter how hard you study, no matter how well you are feeling, you cannot do well in your exam if you are sick. Take breaks between study sessions to eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and get enough sleep. When you're on break, you can always do something extracurricular to refresh yourself.
