BTech Lateral Entry

In our country, engineering education is one of the fastest-growing fields. Most applicants attempt the traditional entrance examination for the first year of admission into institutes offering B.E./B.Tech courses, but there are also alternatives. The lateral entry option is one of these alternatives.

A Bachelor of Technology degree is an undergraduate engineering degree in one of the following streams: Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. To be admitted to the degree program, candidates must pass national or state level entrance exams or meet the admission requirements of the particular college.

Likewise, candidates admitted to B.Tech Lateral Entry are admitted directly to their second year. For direct admission into the second year of the degree, candidates must meet the requirements for B.Tech lateral entry.

In India, a B.Tech degree is awarded to students who have completed four years of study. In India, engineers are a major industry segment due to the many disciplines available to them.

Aside from all the engineering colleges offering lateral entry courses in India, Manav Rachna is your best option if you're searching for innovative and cutting-edge B.Tech Lateral Entry Programmes. Manav Rachna is centrally located in Delhi-NCR and offers these courses in various disciplines.

Lateral Courses in the B.Tech Program

The eligibility criteria for lateral entry into B.tech in 2021

For most colleges, a 3-year diploma (full-time diplomas are accepted) in engineering is required to be considered for the B.Tech LE program. A 60% aggregate in a three-year diploma (Engineering - any stream) after class 10 board exams is required for admission to most engineering colleges in India.

An engineering diploma itself opens up many opportunities. After your class 12 board exams, you can either do a 3-year diploma program or apply for diploma programmes right after your class 10 board exams. You can enrol in a wide variety of industrial training institutes in India such as Mechanical Deisel Colleges, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Colleges, Draughtsmanship Colleges in India, etc.

After class 10 or after class 12, you can choose whether and when to take your diploma in engineering. As long as time constraints are taken into consideration, an engineering diploma plus B will be accepted. Six years of rigorous training are required for lateral entry into the tech field. Therefore, you should decide when to start your diploma course carefully.

While there may be some differences in the eligibility of B.Tech lateral entry 2021 in different states and institutes, the following criteria will be considered for most admissions:

  • Candidates must have completed 10+3 qualifying examinations or diplomas.
  • A student should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Candidates who have studied Physics or Mathematics after 10+2 will also be considered.

The B.Tech. Lateral Entry Admission Process

B.Tech courses offered by engineering institutes offer lateral entry to students based on an entrance exam. Different institutes have different entrance exams. State entrance exams are commonly used for admission into public and private colleges in regional governments.

Many universities and colleges with deemed universities and autonomous institutes offer entrance exams for B.Tech LE programs.

Here are some tips for getting into B. Tech. after diploma

In universities and engineering colleges, B.Tech. Lateral Entry Programmes are being offered to students with a 3-year diploma in engineering or a BSc. Applicants must have passed a degree or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class XII to be accepted directly into the second year. Therefore, pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering is a good idea. It becomes easier and more feasible for students after they receive their Diploma.

Is BTech lateral entry better than regular BTech?

Both programs offer equal job opportunities on the market. Some experts believe, however, that practical experience gained by students during engineering diplomas make them more capable of understanding various subjects. Students pursuing BTech in trades like Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering sometimes benefit from this.

Major differences:

Period

  • Lateral Admission to B.Tech - 3 years
  • Regular Admission to B.Tech - 4 years

Type of Admission

  • Lateral Admission to B.Tech - Direct Admission to the Second Year
  • Entry into the first year of B.Tech regular admission

Qualifications

  • B.Tech. Lateral Admission - Diploma in relevant field after high school
  • Applicants should have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
