What is CMAT Exam for?

CMAT scores are accepted by all AICTE-approved institutions. CMAT scores are accepted at all AICTE accredited institutions and Universities Departments and Constituent Colleges or affiliated Colleges.

CMAT-2022 is scheduled to be administered by NTA as a three-hour entrance exam with a Computer Based Test (CBT) method to assess the applicants aptitude in various areas such as Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning and language Comprehension and general Awareness for admission to Management Courses for the academic session 2022-23. The CMAT-2021 participating Institutes that will be taking part in CMAT-2021 include those institutions that will accept the CMAT score.

Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, which was previously covered under UPSEE is required to apply for CMAT 2022 examination, since the Score Sheet for CMAT 2022 will be used to get admission to the MBA Course at AKTU affiliated institutions and colleges in the academic year 2022-23.

Candidates have to apply separately to the institution that they want to apply to using an CMAT scores of 2022. The Common Management Admission Test, popularly known as CMAT, is a national level entrance examination for Indian B-Schools. As a gateway to more than 1,300 businesses schools, CMAT is one of the most popular MBA exams in India.  In order to be successful, applicants need to invest the same level of effort as they do in CAT, XAT and IIFT. It’s held in the month of January. Candidates should begin their preparations for the exam well in advance of the exam’s scheduled date. CMAT 2022 is scheduled for the last week of January. Preparation for the CMAT should begin at least six months in advance. Because of the large syllabus for the exam, candidates have difficulty preparing in a short period of time.

 Along with time, a sound plan is also necessary for CMAT preparation. To take the CMAT exam on your own, make an exam preparation plan by July. In addition to Quantitative Skills & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension & Verbal Ability, and General Awareness are also included in the CMAT syllabus. In the same manner as last year’s CMAT exam was delayed due to the Covid pandemic, so will the 2022 exam. In 2022, the CMAT exam is likely to be held on February 22. It is unlikely that the NTA will release the CMAT 2022 notification before October 2021, including the 2022 exam schedule and all other information regarding the CMAT exam. 1. Not Having Your Admit Card and Other Documents Ready

The candidate makes a common mistake on exam day by not keeping a copy of their CMAT admit card and other documents handy. By keeping the exam hall ticket and other documents ready a day before the test, you will be able to avoid this mistake. You must carry one ID proof (Aadhar Card, Voter Card, or Driver’s license) on exam day.

2. Reaching Late to the Exam Centre

Another common mistake candidates make is arriving late at the testing center. In order to avoid making this mistake, you should arrive at the exam center at least an hour before the test starts. The time and date of your exam can be found online 

3. Not having an Exam Strategy

Prepare a list of questions you plan on targeting beforehand. A good percentile can be easily obtained by answering those numbers of questions. A section-wise strategy can also be prepared for the test. You should answer as many questions as possible in the Logical Reasoning portion, but if you are well-versed in some other section, you should attempt as many questions as possible in that section.

4. Learning New Concepts on Exam Day

Exam day shouldn’t be a time to learn new topics or concepts. On the exam day, only revise the notes you prepared earlier. During your preparation, you should make a list of the most important formulas so that you can revise them before the test.

Approximately 3 hours are allotted for the exam, which is 180 minutes in total. Candidate will not be provided with additional time. Taking into account that you have to devote appropriate time to each part of the exam, you must thus manage your time effectively.

10 things you need to know before you prepare

  • Eligibility

To appear in the MBA entrance exam, candidates must meet the CMAT eligibility requirements. For the purposes of admission to MBA/PGDM programmes, all AICTE-accredited B-schools that accept CMAT scores are considering the criteria set by National Testing Agency (NTA).

  •  The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • A bachelor’s degree of a minimum of three years’ duration or equivalent in any field from an institute or institution recognized by the AICTE is required
  • If their result will be announced before admission for the next academic year, candidates in their final year of a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for CMAT 2022. During the admission process, the students will be required to submit their mark sheets as proof that they passed their final year examination.
  • Application and participation in CMAT 2022 are open to all ages.
  • Syllabus

There are four subjects in the CMAT syllabus prescribed by the NTA: Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness. To prepare for the CMAT exam, candidates must familiarize themselves with all the key topics in these four subjects.  

As part of the CMAT exam last year, NTA introduced an additional section on Innovation & Entrepreneurship for MBA aspirants who plan to study this field in the future. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the examination, prescribes the pattern for the CMAT exam. Taking the CMAT online requires candidates to answer four types of questions – Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Awareness. In 180 minutes, candidates have to answer 100 multiple-choice questions. There are four marks for each question.  A new section Innovation & Entrepreneurship has been added to the CMAT exam pattern in 2021. There are 25 marks available for this optional section. The time allocated for this subject in the exam will be extended by 30 minutes.

The CMAT exam pattern has not changed other than that. To prepare effectively for CMAT 2022, candidates will need to become familiar with the CMAT pattern.

CMAT books are essential to a successful CMAT preparation. While the MBA entrance exam curriculum and syllabus are similar to other MBA exams, aspirants must study from the books recommended for CMAT to be successful. There are several CMAT books available in the market, which can be purchased online as well as in stores. CMAT books, along with study material, are required if you are planning to appear for CMAT 2022.

  • Registration

Most likely, the registration application window will open in November for CMAT 2022. Those who are planning to take the CMAT 2022 exam in January can fill out the application on the CMAT-NTA website. An announcement regarding CMAT 2022 will be available by November 2021. In addition to the official website, the NTA will publish the CMAT schedule in newspapers. 

The application process for CMAT 2022 will be conducted online only. On the official website, candidates must create a login ID before they can fill out the CMAT application. Candidates belonging to the general category pay Rs 2,000 and those belonging to the reserved category pay Rs 1,000.

  • Admit card

Probably by the second week of January, the CMAT 2022 admit card will be available for download on the official website. CMAT admit cards can be downloaded by registered candidates using the login ID and password they created during CMAT registration 2021. NTA will announce dates for the download of CMAT admit cards in November along with the dates for registration and exam dates.

Admit cards for the CMAT 2022 exam are mandatory to be carried to the testing center. If candidates do not present their admit cards during the identification process, they will not be allowed to enter the CMAT 2022 exam venue. CMAT admit cards must therefore be downloaded before exam day.

  • Cut off

Colleges that accept the CMAT cut offs typically range from 95 to 99 per cent. For college or university MBA programs accepting CMAT scores, cut-off scores or percentiles are required for admission. For the candidates to be considered for admissions, the CMAT cut off percentile must be at least 50%, and their institution must hold a specific selection process. Most likely, the CMAT 2022 exam will take place during the second week of February, and the results will be released shortly thereafter. After the 2022 batch, MBA programs will begin taking CMAT-based admissions. At present, many MBA colleges accepting CMAT are accepting applications for the class of 2021 based on the CMAT cut off scores for 2021.

  • Previous year’s question paper

Solving CMAT previous year question papers is one of the best ways to prepare for an entrance exam like the CMAT 2020. Solving the previous year and sample question paper for the CMAT exam is one of the best exam preparation strategies, which is recommended not only by the exam toppers but also by many of the CMAT preparation experts. By attempting the previous years’ question paper of CMAT, the aspirants will be able to better understand the exam pattern and overall difficulty level of the entrance test.

  • Answer key

Answer keys for CMAT 2022 will be published on the NTA website a few days before results are announced. Answers to each question, the correct answer, and how each candidate responded to each question will be provided in the CMAT answer key. The CMAT-NTA website requires candidates to log on using their CMAT credentials in order to download the CMAT 2022 answer key.

Any candidate whose opinion about any answer to the CMAT question is contrary to the official answer key can contest it. The NTA has put online application forms on the CMAT 2022 website, so they can apply for those jobs. All objections received to the preliminary answer key will be analyzed before the final CMAT answer key is released.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the CMAT 2022 notification on February 16, 2022. CMAT registrations 2022 can be filled only in online mode and are up at the official website – cmat.nta.nic.in. The notifications released by NTA states that the last date for the registration process is 16th February, 2022 to 17th March, 2022 (up to 11:50 P.M.).
