Difficulty in Finding Jobs in the Engineering Sector and How to Overcome it?

Finding a position in engineering is one of the easier parts of the job search. It is estimated that there are thousands of companies out there looking to hire the best engineers of the future. Yet, there are two very big problems that make finding employment in the engineering fields extremely difficult. The first issue is an overwhelming number of applicants for nearly all good jobs. Secondly, the lack of exposure. There are very few internship opportunities available to engineering students in Indian colleges. It is uncommon for engineering colleges and the Board of Directors to realize the importance of teaching students Practical methods. Most engineering colleges do not offer hands-on experience and real-time applications

In order to get the job, play the numbers game with semi-unique profiles and resumes for each company. Ensure that your resume demonstrates how you meet the requirements of each job. It is critical that you use keywords gleaned from the job description in your cover letter, and create a document that will capture the attention of the hiring manager.

Why is there a Surge in the Number of Engineering Dropouts ?

Across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, over 11,000 students attended the IITs in 2018. IIT Delhi and Kharagpur campuses have seen almost 1,400 students leave midway in the last two years.

Engineering dropout rates remain at the same level or worsen at different universities. In proportion to increasing difficulty, people leave the field more frequently.

Reasons Engineering Students Tend to Drop Out

The Course Difficulty

A major in engineering is very time-consuming and challenging due to the rigorous course load. It is common for students to underestimate the amount of work they have outside of class. In addition, they lack the prerequisite knowledge for physics, advanced math, or discipline-specific courses like thermodynamics, machine design, and fluid mechanics.

Unable to Handle Stress

Students sometimes burn out due to the overwhelming course load of engineering students. Students complain about being overworked and stressed, which is the leading cause of dropouts. There is a limited amount of free time in engineering.

Difficulty to Accept Failure

Failure is not a common experience for many high school graduates. Almost all engineering students who drop out do so due to academic failure or a lack of belief in their own success. They give up because of their fear of failure.

Financial issues

Good engineering universities cost a lot, thus many students fail to afford or get too burdened due to students’ loans. Stress and anxiety associated with financial problems can be a source of anxiety and stress for college students. It can be difficult to manage finances while in college even with the support of student grants.

Even though dropping out of college might seem easy and liberating, it is not always the case. However, this doesn’t mean that if you graduate college, everything will be smooth sailing.

Nonetheless, college experience and the chance to study something you enjoy are definitely worth considering. It is important to discuss dropping out of college with family members before you do it. This issue is bigger than just a google search.

Perhaps dropping out is the best option for you if you feel you are wasting your time and can be more productive for the company. Creating a plan is crucial before doing anything else.

In conclusion, dropping out doesn’t guarantee success. Most people who have dropped out and succeeded are the exception and not the rule. They were able to remain optimistic only because of their tenacity and perseverance. They didn’t abandon education, but they abandoned the educational institutions. The key to success is to pursue passions while in college and to refine your skills. If you’re ready to take on the world with your skills instead of a college degree, it’ll be worth your time to drop out.

Robotics Engineering – Courses, Eligibility, Admission, Exams, Scope & Careers

Robotics Engineering

What does it mean to be a Robotics Engineer?

Do you enjoy solving difficult problems? Do you have a passion for electronics, programming, or mechanics? Consider pursuing a career as a robotics engineer!

A robotics engineer is a behind-the-scenes designer who creates robots and robotic systems that can accomplish tasks that people are either unable or unwilling to perform. The Roomba, for example, was designed to assist humans with the boring process of vacuuming floors.

Robotics engineers contribute to making work safer, easier, and more efficient through their technologies.

What is the role of a Robotics Engineer?

Robotics engineering, unlike other types of engineering, necessitates proficiency in a wide range of technical fields – robotics engineers serve as a link between mechanics, electronics, computer science, and cognitive psychology.

Robotics engineers devote the majority of their time to developing the plans and processes required to not only create but also operate robots. Some robotics experts also create the machines that put the robots together.

Engineers determine exactly what a robot will be used for prior to its construction. Robotics engineers conduct an in-depth analysis of the work that the robot will be given because robots are supposed to solve problems or ease human chores.

What problem is the robot attempting to solve? Is it a time-consuming task? Is this a function that people should avoid? What could be preventing the robot from working properly? Before moving on to the design stage, these and many more questions must be answered.

Robotics engineers use 3D CAD (computer-aided design) technologies to generate designs that allow them to design down to the circuit level. The robots are then built using CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) techniques.

Because robots are extremely technological and complex to make, the construction process takes a long time. As a result, it’s fairly uncommon for robotics engineers to only work on a few projects over the course of their careers.

The following are examples of typical day-to-day responsibilities :

  • Robot construction, configuration, and testing
  • Creating software systems to control their robotic systems, such as factory robots.
  • Creating automated robotic systems that are utilised to boost production and precision in a particular industry.
  • They’re analysing and evaluating the prototypes and robotic systems they’ve built. Because technology is continuously developing and advancing, this is typically a never-ending process.
  • Cost estimates and design calculations are reviewed and approved.
  • They’re providing technical support for the robotic systems they’ve built, and they’re also teaching robots how to walk.

What is it like to work as a Robotics Engineer?

Robots are most typically seen in the automotive, food packaging, appliance, and electronic industries.

Engineers that work in robotics split their time between a lab and an office. Working on little mechanical elements that are components of the larger robot they are constructing takes up a lot of time in the lab. Working on research and planning takes up a lot of time at the office.

Monday to Friday, a normal work week comprises of 40 hours. Project deadlines, on the other hand, can cause this plan to shift dramatically. It may be required to work overtime or travel on occasion to ensure that the job is completed on time.
